Marx Farm Cabin

Here is one of the harder to find Marx cabins and was available at least as early as 1951.  My catalog references don't cover the period 1946-1950 so I can't say whether or not it was offered earlier than 1951. The cabin with this particular graphic, was a separate sale item - not available as part of a larger playset (however, the same stampings were used with other graphics and included in multiple playsets) . There would have been a set of brightly colored hard plastic furniture suitable for 54mm-60mm figures included (darn it - and I sold my sets of larger bright colored furniture last year!!!). The chimney is a mis-matched color and is most likely a replacement, however the rest of the tin is in real good shape. Enjoy!

Building A Memory - Schreiber-Bogen's "Pfalz im Rhein bei Kaub" Pt 2

I didn't spend a whole lot of time this week on the model, but did manage to get the roofs and towers around the wall perimeter finished. This was a fairly straight forward task. It starts by gluing in place a small tower, followed by a long roof, then another tower and so on. Total time now spent on the model: about 14+ hours. Here's a couple of progress photos and some tips. Enjoy!

Getting the roofs to hunker down into a good fit is covered below.

I used a black felt-tip marker cover the exposed edges of all the roof sections as well as some other areas around the structure.

Kellogg's UK Paper Village - Gas Station

Today's Kellogg's UK Paper Village entry is the Gas Station - or Filling Station or Service Station or Tankstelle or whatever you're comfortable with. It's a nice structure having an attached garage with an opening door. The main building also features an opening door. Both of the doors open accordion style. There is also a separate pump island with two pumps attached. You'll notice in a couple of the photos that the building is a tad crooked. That's okay - for now - and will be corrected once everything is glued and braced, but I just want you to see what it looks like built-up straight from the package. The building measures 7" (17.8cm) L x 5 1/2" (14cm) H x 2 5/8" (6.7cm) W. Enjoy!

Ideal Fire Truck - Blue

Today's Fire Engine and Emergency Vehicle Friday offering is somewhat of a repeat. Back in October of last year, and then again this past March, Toys & Stuff featured the Red and Silver versions of this little 1950s era gem. Today we'll look at the blue version - with red wheels vs. black wheels as found on the previous two entries. Ideal made these in a number of colors, red and silver appearing to be the most common. These were made from 1951-1954 and measure 3 3/4" (9.5cm) L. I'm always on the look out for other color variations, so until then - Enjoy!

AOME LOTR - Moria Orcs

Today on Sci-Fi & Fantasy Saturday, Toys & Stuff looks at the 'Moria Orcs' Soldiers and Scenes pack from Play Along Toys. One of the things that had always confused me about this particular set was the shield carried by the Orc Sneak. At first it appears to be the pelvic bone from some large animal or even a giant clam shell. But these Orcs are from Moria - an underground race of nasties - so clams are pretty much out of the question and the largest creature would probably be a Cave Troll. But then, when looking at the rest of the Sneak's armor I finally decided the shield was just a really oddly hammered-out piece of metal. That's my story and I'm sticking to it - until I change my mind! :-)  Enjoy!
